Training & Development Practice

Our Training & Development Practice provides workshops and capacity development programmes in design thinking and lean startup. We create transformation journeys that build an entrepreneurial environment even in established organisations, help staff innovate around user needs, and make use of rapid prototyping to develop products that respond to deep user truths. Clients include Sime Darby, Maxis, MaGIC, Ministry of Youth & Sports Malaysia, and Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation Malaysia.

Consulting Practice

Our Consulting Practice works with organisations to research, design, and prototype social innovations. We work alongside our clients to create meaningful social change by developing strategy, shedding light on complex ecosystems through research, and validating new solutions. Clients include UNICEF, Novo Nordisk/Ministry of Health Malaysia, UNESCAP, UNDP. Tandemic is looking for a Design Researcher

to work as part of teams researching and designing new and innovative interventions for challenging issues. At the root of building better solutions is gaining a deep understanding of challenges. The Design Researcher will be part of research projects that will involve learning from a wide variety of people, including underprivileged communities. The Design Researcher will also work on translating insights into actionable initiatives to be tested with key stakeholders. This work enables our partners and clients to carry through new solutions to challenges into robust and appropriate implementations.

Once you’re here, you will:

Design and deliver research projects

Design qualitative research tools and methods

Conduct primary qualitative research and source secondary research

Analyse, interpret, report and deliver qualitative data. This includes producing reports and other final outputs of project (e.g. client presentations)

Develop and maintain positive relationship with clients

Lead and facilitate workshops related to Lab activities such as research, presenting findings, collaborative work, etc

Work as part of the team to meet objectives and targets of the innovation lab’s project plan

Assist CEO and COO in any duties assigned by them

Design Researcher Requirements:

Qualification in and/or significant experience using human-centred design (design research / design thinking) research methodologies preferred

Individuals with a background in architecture, engineering, ethnography, industrial design, and journalism are encouraged to apply

Outstanding written and oral communication skills

Strong proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia

Ability to adapt to uncertainties and variables by creating a realistic action plan

Strong teamwork skills, comfortable in working with a tight-knit team of inspiring individuals

Ability to build in-depth sector-specific knowledge through independent learning

An ability to translate big picture ideas into actions

Ability to prioritise and complete duties to a high professional standard within established timeframes
